Beira, Mozambique, Africa
Beira is the second largest city in Mozambique built at the mouth of the Pungwe River in the Sofala Province. This seaside town is a hot and humid place, especially in the summer months.
Beira’s population is over 55,000 and the main business in the area comes via the port, and a road and railway line constructed from the coast eastwards, providing Zimbabwe with its main outlet to the sea. The Port of Beira acts as a gateway for the interior of the country as well as Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi. The principal exports from the Port of Beira are sugar, tobacco and corn.
The area is a high risk malaria region, and you should always take precautions against being bitten by mosquitoes.
