One reaches Zongoene by road from Maputo via Bilene (a small resort town) or if arriving from the North, just after Xai Xai, there is a turn off to the left to Chicumbane. You will travel on 36 km’s of sand road. During the raining season it is advisable to access the lodge in a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Zongoene is positioned among the dunes and trees where the Limpopo river meets the Indian ocean. This upmarket property boasts beautiful décor, with great use made of the local hardwood ‘chamfuta’ (pod mahogany).
Accommodation for up to 60 guests (sharing) is in varied accommodation types: en-suite - pool chalets with twin beds and family Chalets (sleeping 2 adults and 2 children)
There are 3 self-catering options: Casa Madeira which sleeps up to 4 guests, Casarão which sleeps up to 6 guests and The Dunes sleeping up to 14 guests.
The restaurant offers Buffet Breakfast, Light lunches & Buffet dinner. There is a Lounge, Main bar, Beach bar, Satellite TV bar/lounge/games room and 2 swimming pools.
Unspoilt beaches, huge sand dunes, prolific bird life, river cruises, fly fishing, surf fishing, deep-sea fishing, whale (seasonal) and dolphin watching, scuba diving, canoeing, quad bike and 4 x 4 trails are some of the things you will enjoy at Zongoene Lodge. The Lodge is also popular as a conference destination offering theme lunches and dinners, team building and group activities.
